Bandhs/Protests/Trolling/Activism
These words have become a trend nowadays. Anyone who is dissatisfied with services, politicians, facilities offered for citizens can resort to the above.
Who does it? Which people resort to these ways?
- People dissatisfied with the governance of the country.
- People who want better facilities from the state authorities.
- Those whose grievance is not heard by authorities
The common factor here is people or citizens
Protests, as a way of expressing resentment towards issues/problems have been the norm from the past. People would come out on streets peacefully, raise slogans and march. Today, people resort to everything possible, but not peacefully.
Institutions and work places would shut down as a mark of non-acceptance to a certain decision or solution or issue without harming each other. Today, they close more due to the scare of arson or violence. There is so much of disruption in day to day life.
I wonder why we are resorting to those actions which benefit the masses less and cause more inconvenience, loss and agony. Why are we not concerned about other sections of society who are under-privileged and low income groups? Why do we need to protest? Why can’t elected candidates pursue their agendas and manifestoes, which they promise at the time of elections/oath?
Why are we losing humanitarian traits and becoming mercenaries? Is money the be-all and end-all of everything in the country? Doesn’t life have any meaning in this country?
Time we think and change our ways of protesting especially with bandhs.
